...unique scenic views, landscape, ecology, flora and wildlife, that is accessible to all
The Majjistral History and Nature Park is the largest nature park in Malta and accessible to all. With scenic views and unique landscape, ecology, flora and wildlife, it has become a haven. Declared a Nature and History Park by the Government in 2007, Il-Majjistral has much to offer. Majjistral Park also contains many historical and archaeological sites.
The land that Il-Majjistral encompasses is situated in the North West of Malta. It offers a diversity of habitats with a thriving landscape. A variety of endemic birds, mammals, reptiles and invertebrates have made the valleys, rock pools, soil types, sand dunes and beaches, their home.
The unique Mediterranean and rugged countryside is best enjoyed by hikers during the months of October to April through guided walks or non-guided walking routes, whilst during the summer months Il-Majjistral offers guided snorkelling within the marine protected area of Golden Bay.
Il-Majjistral Nature and History Park is dedicated to making people of ages more aware of their surroundings, holding educational talks, walks and snorkelling events. Offering Volunteer projects, such as clean ups, and general patrol walks making our countryside a better place.
The management of the Majjistral Nature and History Park has been entrusted to 3 non governmental and non profit organisations: Din l-Art Helwa, The Gaia Foundation and Nature Trust (Malta).
