Situated right on the water's edge in Spinola Bay, Raffael is a casual al fresco dining option recommended for a laid-back evening with friends. True to the neighbouring and the more refined Ristorante San Giuliano's promise (operated by the same owner) of authentic Italian cuisine, Raffael also focuses on serving the best quality ingredients through the expert hands of an Italian chef.

There are many places in Malta who claim the title of a 'Pizzeria' but only a few are those who actually work the pizza dough properly into an appetizing thin and crusty base with delicious toppings as is done here. The one topped with parma ham, parmeggiano and ruccola is a personal favourite. There are also a variety of good pasta, salad, fish and meat dishes to choose from. The service here is friendly and informal. Young waiters and waitresses busily run around the outdoor terrace taking orders, serving delicious food and settling bills whilst hoping they get a fair tip for their endeavours...

The restaurant itself is located in and around the impressive arches of a traditional boathouse. The draw of the place is to let yourself sink into the Mediterranean atmosphere of the area with small fishing boats entering and leaving the tiny harbour, ducks pecking away at the crumbs thrown to them by diners and the resident cats who never miss the chance to make a right fool of themselves.
